SNAKE SHED ART OF FIENE & MEDEA
In October of 1996 two of my friends were moving to Sun Valley Idaho. They were having a hard time finding a proper home to watch their pet Burmese Python, Medea. I was the only one who came to mind. What started as a one month babysitting job turned into adoption, since transporting Medea could be hazardous to her health. Since that time I have grown to love and respect this beautiful creature.
Four years later after tossing her shed, I decided to see if it was possible to incorporate it into my art. It took approximately a year and a half before I felt the art was good enough to show. I first started to show the art on Venice Beach. The response has been excellent, and now receive sheds from all over the country. Some of the vases are in a restaurant near Melrose named Oasis, others are in the Ritz Carlton, Marina del Rey. The art is using the beauty of nature without harm to snakes, which are often misunderstood and feared.
Besides vases, the art has been expanded to picture frames, drums, furniture, canes, walking sticks, clothing, etc. If these beautiful reptiles are allowed to live, they will continue to renew themselves leaving their unique markings as a gift.
