Corruption, sex, drugs, and violence...And that's just the teachers. Welcome to education in the State of California.

Apple Valley, CA June 27, 2004 -- District Psychologist, Richard J. Swank, published his first book entitled Simon's Shadows. The book is the first book in a three part series that addresses the hidden under-culture of teachers in the California school system and the adversity that teachers create for their students.

The series continues with Shadows of Paris, scheduled for release in July 2004, and Shadows Forever, scheduled for release in August 2004. All of the books address corruption in schools and school districts, students in crisis, and how teachers can and do sabotage students' education.

"Richard does a wonderful job of showing the ways in which some schools become corrupted, and entrenched in their ways," Tally, an educator from Lancaster, CA. Ashley, an avid reader, writes, "This is a heart-gripping tale...With it's classy mix of language, love and loss, this book will have you loving some of the characters, while hating others." Monica writes, "This book is amazing. I loved the voice that the author gives to inner-city kids." "This shocking portrayal of the schools in California is both entertaining and inspiring. Mixed with humor and devastation, this novel will have you holding your breath until the final page," Elizabeth in California writes.

Simon's Shadows is available in hardback for $21.95 and in trade paperback for $15.95 at http://www.e-booktime.com/Merchant2 , http://www.bn.com , http://www.amazon.com , http://www.bamm.com , http://www.powells.com , or visit his website at http://www.richardswank.com .
